Happy Father's Day

We arrived home from Cancun just in time to celebrate father's day. We got B his own poker set. Finally!! Every time we have the gang over a game of poker breaks out but we don't have chips so they use pennies or monopoly money. Now we can officially play poker with actual chips.

Cancun

Brandon and I love to get away when we can. We got together several months back and planned a trip to Mexico with our great friends The Reams and The Reams. A fun tag team of brothers and wives.

We stayed at an adult only resort, Excellence Playa Mujeres. I highly recommend a vacation at a resort with no children. Its definitely the way to go when you want to get away.

I was a bit apprehensive about going for a whole week. Its the longest we've ever gone on vacation away from the boys. But, I knew they were in good hands.

Since we were at the beach there wasn't much to do with our day other then lay by the pool, get a tan, and  partake in the many variety of beverages. I did finally give into the peer pressure and played a game of pool volleyball. Brandon and Jack got in a game of ping pong and beach soccer with Bryan and the girls Libby and Kristi.

 After one of our pool volleyball games Brandon had to be bandaged by the medics because he cut the bottom of his foot open on one of the tiles on the bottom of the pool.

We even came up with our own pool games to pass the time. Who doesn't love a good game of pool tag? Brandon and the guys had hand-stand competitions. And what would pool games be without sharks and minnows or relay races.

Every night we choose one of the many yummy restaurants to eat at. During our stay we had tapas, hibachi, mexican, indian and italian. One of the best things about dinner was dessert even though I only ate dessert at one of the restaurants.  Fried ice cream, YUM! Brandon did enjoy the mexican coffee that was made table side. I'm not sure how they get away with calling it coffee. Its a lethal combination of alcohol and a splash of espresso set on fire and mixed together.

As the week winded down we were sad to go but I was glad to be heading home to my babies!

Of course we had a small present for each of them when we got home. Ryder got a wooden toy flute. Not sure if that was the best idea. It is a little loud, but it was hard finding something for him. The boys each got a ceramic lizard. They have already started painting them. Once they are done we are going to hang them outside on the brick under our back patio. 

Baby Mo

Shortly after buying our new house a mother bird also moved in and made a nest. It wasn't long before two baby birds hatched. The boys named them Mo and Jo. Then one day to our surprise Brandon saw one of the birds fly from the house to the fence to only be attacked by a cat waiting below. According to Brandon all he could see was a puff of feathers in the air.

We were convinced it was the mother bird or one of the babies that made a bad judgement in landing. Soon after a bird was back at the nest. We all thought it was the other baby bird that was now too petrified to leave the nest after seeing one of its family members turned into lunch. The bird never leaves the nest!!

This weekend while doing yard work we tried to get the bird to fly off so we can take the nest down. (Even though it wasn't make a mess, because its wasn't eating according to B) Brandon tried poking it with the end of the broom. It ruffled its feathers and cooed a bit but wouldn't budge. So I, with my genius ideas, got the water hose and turned it on the jet mode and gave the bird a good spray. Sure enough after flapping around with fear and flying into the window it did leave. Brandon got the ladder and proceeded to take the nest down. Only when he got up there we were surprised to find this...

Yes, that is a baby bird. A very baby bird. No wonder the bird wasn't leaving it was protecting her baby. Man, did we feel terrible after that.  Luckily the mom returned later that afternoon. Needless to say we have left the nest alone. The boys have now named this baby Mo #2. 

Fun times

The other day I had the idea to let the boys get in the trampoline with the water hose. Everyone had a good time! Ryder really liked being in charge of the water. He got a kick out of watching the boys jumping around being silly.

Brandon was playing basketball that night so since they were wet and already outside I decided we should have dinner outside too.

Awards Celebration

Today Carter and Parker had their awards celebrations at school.

Kindergarten put on a really cute performance before awards were announced. Parker received awards for Outstanding Character, Shoe Tying Club, Music Award, and Computer Lab Award. I am so proud!!

Carter's class had their awards in their class room and then celebrated with cookies and snacks after. Carter received awards for Outstanding Character, Husky Award, Commended Performance on TAKS reading and math, A honor roll, and Cert. of Achievement for excellence in research. Amazing!!

Its hard to believe another school year has come to an end. Its seems not that long ago that I was walking them to their first day of class. They have both grown so much from the beginning of the year to now.

Field Day.... Yea!!

Oh the joy of field day! What's better than spending a day running in the hot Texas sun? Its funny how as kids you don't seem to mind the heat. It just goes to show we'll do anything for our kids. Brandon took the day off and joined me for the day at school to watch the boys.

There were several stations spread around the school. There were more than just running events. Water races, softball throw, keep it up balloon races, scooters, and good ole fashion tug-o-war. They had a great time and winning or losing didn't seem to matter.
