Boo Yall!

Happy Halloween! The boys were ready to hit the street early. It was a bit of a bummer that Halloween fell on a Monday this year. But never the less they had a fun time dressing up and loading up on the candy. I think this is the first year that I haven't coordinated the boys costumes in some way. It was just too hard to make everyone happy. I had some great ideas but none that everyone could agree on. So after much deliberation I let them choose their own. Even Maverick got a costume this year.

Of course Ryder had to be our first trick or treater. Mom and dad were nice enough to come over and get  in on the fun with us. Dad managed the candy bowl. He had already ate 4 pieces before we left and when we returned his pocket was full of Almond Joys that he had hid away for himself.

Brandon and I had our own Halloween fun the weekend before. Our friends have an annual Halloween Party. Its a lot of fun getting dressed up and in the Halloween spirit. Plus a night out just to let loose never hurt anyone. This year B was a referee and I was a Dallas Cowboy. Of course I had to put my own spin on it and make it cute. We had such a good time!

Halloween Fun

A few weekends ago we got together with friends to hang out and let the kids do some halloween crafts. Libby was more than prepared to entertain the kids. She had crafts running out her ears. The boys really had fun putting together their gingerbread "haunted" house. Ryder was even a big helper even though he wanted to do more candy eating than putting it on the house.

After making the houses the kids got to burn off some sugar outside.

Happy Birthday

Today, October 23rd, is my brother's birthday. Justin would be 27 today. Celebrating his birthday today made me remember a special birthday of his ten years ago. Brandon and I took him to the drag races in Ennis. It was something he had talked about wanting to go do. For his 17th birthday we got him tickets. We got up very early the morning of the races and drove out to the track. One of our most memorable moments of that day was when we decided to unknowingly walk behind one of the top fuel cars that was "burning" its fuel. Talk about feeling like you were being poisoned. Our eyes instantly started watering and it was hard to breath. We couldn't do anything but laugh at ourselves. No wonder a crowd of people had gathered around and weren't walking by. We were the only dumbies that day willing to try. Brandon and I still talk about that day and laugh.

State Fair

Its October and that mean its fair time. As soon as the fair comes around the boys start begging us to go. This year we headed out on the last Friday the fair was open. Ryder stayed home which made for a much easier and productive evening. By now we have our plan down. Park, get in, hit the midway for rides, then grab some tasty treats before heading home. Everything went off without a hitch. If you ask Brandon he would tell you he could have done without the $30 valet parking. Oh well, it was that or keep circling the fair grounds. At least that way we were nice and close to the car when we were  ready to leave:)

As usual we the boys loved all the rides. You do have to be picky though since each ride cost $5 per boy. And the last time I checked we didn't have a money tree growing in our backyard.

Up first was the Love Bug. A wildly fast ride. Even Parker's hair got blown away.

Brandon and I even went on a ride with the boys. Good thing I had to hold Parker down in his seat virtually the hole time around every twist and turn.

This year our tasty treats consisted of fried queso and funnel cakes, a state fair must!! The powdered sugar gets a little messy, but its worth it!

Finally, before heading home we snapped a quick picture of the boys in front of the Texas Star ferris wheel. The first picture gives you a good idea of just how big it is.
